10 Real Robots of the Modern World

Robot have been a part of the public consciousness for centuries and they’re finally being developed by trailblazing companies that are shaping the future of the human condition. You don’t have to wait for another hundred years to see them, though. Here are 10 robots that exist right now!

10. Bina48

Bina48 has lots of different functions but it’s essentially an AI companion robot that can seem to think on its own and carry on a conversation with humans. It was created with interview transcripts to make it sound like a real person. It also has a face scanned from a human and face and voice recognition software, so it always knows who it’s talking to. It’s the perfect robot for anyone who’s lonely and into robots at the same time.

9. Moley Robotics

Moley Robotics is a company out of London that’s created a robotic cook that’s destined to be in every kitchen in the future. It can cook anything you want but it doesn’t end there. It’s also capable of washing the dishes and putting them away for you.

If you hate cooking or love robots, then this is going to change your life very soon. It also just looks really cool!

8. Festo Bionic Animals

Festo builds robots that are just like animals in every way possible. They’re biologically accurate and are currently being used for research. So far, they’ve made bats, spiders, and even turtles. The future is meant to see them sold as toys for children and it doesn’t get any better than that. A child can have a pet that’s just like the real thing without the mess!

7. Sophia

Sophia is one of the most famous AIs that you can find, and it’s even been granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia. It can carry on a conversation and has been going strong since 2014. The robot can imitate human movements. It’s going to get more sophisticated as time goes on and it might just be the first model to appear in a person’s home.

6. Atlas

Atlas is the newest robot from Boston Dynamics and it’s the sleekest machine they’ve created. What makes it great is that it has awareness of the world around it. That makes it possible for the robot to move around and avoid obstacles, just like a real person. It can lift heavy objects and carry them around, making the need for backbreaking physical labor a thing of the past.

5. Spot 2

Spot 2 is the first robot on the list that looks like a dog and it can carry out lots of different tasks. Just like the last entry, it’s been created by Boston Dynamic and is aware of the world around it. It’s smaller and lighter than the last Spot so it can really get around. It’s also much nimbler so it can make its way around outside and inside a tight room.

4. Ekso GT

The Ekso GT is an aid for people with physical limitations and works as a pair of legs and keeps the user balanced and on their feet. It can change the lives of millions of people and the development is still ongoing. Once it reaches the open market, there’s no doubt that it will become a very common sight. A robot that helps people with mobility problems will always be widely accepted.

3. Asimo

Asimo is about as humanoid as a robot can currently get and is able to move around on its own. It can understand spoken commands as well as gestures. The working hands allow it to turn lights on and off as well as carry anything in the house. It’s designed to be a helper robot and it works very well for that purpose. It’s no longer being produced but it greatly moved the science of AI forward.

2. Jia Jia

Jia Jia has an incredibly human like face and can easily be interacted with by other people. It may move around on wheels, but it can process new information and speech as it’s uploaded through real interactions. It can respond to questions as well as make micro-expressions, just like a human. It’s no wonder why this robot gets so many looks when it’s out on display and it’s still being updated and evolved.

1. Curiosity Rover

Finally, we come to the Curiosity Rover. While it may not be the type of robot you imagine, it’s every bit a robot, built to think and act like a human, just like the other robots. It’s investigating the planet Mars right now and moving around the terrain on its own. It has lots of tools to test the landscape and costs over $2 million to create. There is a chance it may still be driving around by the time humans arrive on the red planet!

3D Printing and the Future of Space Exploration

One would have been considered crazy a couple of decades ago to imagine the 3D printing of complex objects let alone a rocket intended for space. As technology keeps getting better, so do the capabilities of 3D printing. Nothing illustrates that fact better than a 3D printed rocket which is about to go to space. Manufactured by Relativity Space, this rocket, if successfully launched into orbit, will become the first 3D printed object to do so.

However, even before it gets to launch, it is already making history.  The Terran 1 rocket is the largest 3D printed object in the world to attempt orbital flight. In addition, it is also the first printed 3D rocket. Unlike many other space companies, this one is venture funded meaning that it will be the first one to be so funded to reach orbit, if it successfully does.

Aptly named GLHF (good luck have fun), the company’s primary focus is to gather data and learnings necessary to develop a larger and reusable launch vehicle. They also want to test the launch capabilities of a 3D printed rocket. However, it is their focus on reusable rockets which is exciting. It is, perhaps, a pointer to the future of space flight if the launch is successful. This is because it will reduce the time taken to build the components of rockets and also reduce the cost since some of them can be reused. Instead of relying on different subcontractors building different components, all of this is done inhouse and it is done in a much shorter period.

As it is, the rocket has been 85% 3D printed by mass, with a goal of making future printed rockets attain 95% 3D printed parts by mass. The other revolutionary thing which will happen if it indeed does orbit, is that it will be the first rocket using methane that will get to orbit. Previous attempts have failed and it will be interesting to see what happens in the industry if the launch is successful. This is because methane is thought to perform better and be more efficient than kerosene which is widely used.

The company postponed its launch from the launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida but it is not understood what exactly caused the postponement. However, the fresh launch is scheduled to be done on 23rd March 2023.

It is crucial to note that no commercial space company has gotten to orbit on its first try and it could be the reason why Relativity Space decided to postpone its launch to better enhance chances of reaching orbit. It would not be a major failure if the rocket does not get to orbit, as long as the data and lessons gathered up to then will be used to better the next rocket and get it to space.

Already a lot has been achieved to get to this stage and the future of the space race is exciting if these developments are anything to go by. Technology being interrelated, the world of technology, especially the 3D printing world, will benefit immensely from sister successes in different sectors. Already, we have promising news on organ bioprinting which will change how we handle sensitive organ transplants and organ donation. Successes in the space industry regarding 3D printing will only help to accelerate 3D technology elsewhere.

As for now, the world awaits.

While you’re waiting for your ride into space, here’s a timelapse video showing you how the whole process works! Comment right below it to let us know what you think!

The Lowdown on Faceswap Videos

There’s been a lot of news about faceswapping and deepfake videos on the internet and it can be a challenge to get to the bottom of it all. These are two things that basically describe the same exact effect. A faceswap and a deepsway is when you replace one person’s face with another person’s face. This can be done in videos or in photos. The result is a completely engineered image or video that shows someone doing something they were never involved with. There are lots of implications behind this whole thing, so it warrants some time to look into it.

Humans are Easily Fooled

When you get right down to it, human beings can be easily fooled. A study for Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking found that “At the core of deepfakes is deception, which involves intentionally, knowingly, and/or purposely misleading another person. The deception detection literature suggests that people are not particularly good at detecting deception when assessing messages and can relatively easily acquire false beliefs. Meta-analyses of deception detection studies suggest that people perform only slightly above chance when evaluating a message as either true or deceptive. Importantly, this level of accuracy is not affected by the medium in which the message is conveyed. Studies have shown that deception detection is approximately the same whether the message is conveyed through text, an audio, or a video.”

Why it Matters

There’s a very good reason why that matters and it comes right down to how effective a deepfake video can be. Just because something looks fake to you, who is used to noticing digital manipulation, doesn’t mean it looks fake to everyone else. Any person can be put into a video that turns them into a criminal, or much worse and there are going to be plenty of people that believe it from the second they see it.

It Reduces Faith

So, some people are going to believe them and some people won’t. No big deal that’s been society for millennia. Well, it’s not that simple. In that same study, it turned out that people who could see through the lies still had a negative reaction. “Unfortunately, one of the few empirical studies on deepfakes provides some early evidence that worryingly bears this philosophical account out. In a study looking at the effect of deepfakes on trust in the news, [researchers] found that although people were unlikely to be completely misled by a deepfake, exposure to the deepfake increased their uncertainty about media in general. Confirming the worst expectations, that sense of uncertainty led participants to reduce their trust in news.”

They’re Easy to Make

None of this would matter a whole lot if deepfakes were difficult to make, but they’re just not. You can find deepfake apps all over the internet that let you make a video in seconds flat. All you have to do is upload a source video and the image of the person you want placed in it. Viola: deepfake!

Commonly Accessible Apps

Just taking a cursory look at available deepfake apps revealed dozens of programs and sites. For instance:

Lensa AI

Lensa AI is the latest app that has gone viral for creating AI portraits of you or anyone else.

Deepfakes Web

Deepfakes web is a service that lets you create deepfake videos on the web. It uses Deep learning to absorb the various complexities of face data.

Wombo

Wombo is a lip-syncing app that lets you transform yourself or others into a singing face.

Reface

Reface AI is the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) behind the scenes. To use the app, all you need to do is capture your photo and then choose the gif that you want to use.

Intent is Key

With so many easily accessed programs, it has to be understood that intent always matters in something like this. Anything can be used for negative purposes, but it doesn’t mean that thing is intrinsically bad, just like with magic tricks. Yes, you’re’ being lied to, but it’s not for a nefarious reason, it’s for entertainment. There’s always going to be someone with their own agenda and that’s not a good enough reason to take a technology off the table. These apps can be a lot of fun and they can even come with some adult implications.

Sexy Time with Deepfakes

Unless you’re completely out of touch with reality, you’ve no doubt heard about the emergence of deepfake pornography. These are videos where people have swapped the faces of adult actresses for famous women and shared them online. It’s why you can now see your favorite celebrity’s face on a body that’s carrying out the kinds of acts that no one ever talks about in public. Using a person’s face without their consent is pretty invasive and an act of violation, but you can take that same technology and use it as a way to stimulate your partners in ways you never could have imagined.

The Possibilities are Endless

Just think about all the images or videos you could make for your partner with a deepfake app. All you need is an image of your faces and you can use it to put the two of you into the filthiest and most provocative poses imaginable. Your partner is going to be able to see it played out, in the flesh so to speak, and that can be a lot of fun! It might even lead to a conversation about the things that really turn the both of you on and why you should try them out!

It’s up to You

How you feel about deepswap videos is totally up to you, but you have more than enough options when it comes to making your own. You can find both free and paid apps all over any app store. They take minimal effort and you can save them for yourself or share them with the world. It’s all up to you and how you want to take advantage of the technology. Just keep in mind that putting your ex-girlfriend’s face in a Donkey Punch video is objectively wrong and a violation of that person’s dignity. It CAN be pretty funny, though.

What is Cryptocurrency?

You’ve no doubt heard the term “cryptocurrency” thrown around. If you’re like most people then you really have no idea what it means or what it’s all about. Even the name makes you wonder what it actually is. You can’t just call something “crypto” and expect everyone else to get it. Like most things to do with technology and the internet, the names things are called are never really meant to offer meaningful definitions to the world at large. Just to break it down a little bit, the name lets you know that we’re talking about currency that uses cryptography rather than a centralized authority. Once again, what does that mean?

Peer to Peer Transactions

It all comes down to the way that transactions are made with cryptocurrency. The money in your bank is part of a centralized system overseen by the government. Banks keep track of it and every dollar they store is insured through the FDIC. That’s not the case with crypto.

Cryptocurrency exists in the digital world and nowhere else. If you remember file sharing through programs like Napster, it’s much the same thing. The money is stored on computers all around the world. When you buy or sell something, the currency moves through peer to peer computers rather than the government overseen banking system.

Blockchain

So, who’s keeping track of all these transactions around the world? Every person that’s using crypto right now is doing it. It’s all recorded on a public ledge called blockchain. This blockchain is distributed through computers and servers across the globe so no one person, or entity, has control over it. That means that the people who use crypto are also in charge of keeping track of it and there lots of pros and cons to that sort of system.

Cryptocurrency Storage

No owner of cryptocurrency owns anything tangible. What you have is a digital key and nothing more. That means you need a safe place to store it where it won’t get hacked or taken from you. That’s where wallets come in. There are two different types of crypto wallets: hot wallets and cold wallets.

Hot wallet storage: Hot wallets refer to crypto storage that uses online software to protect the private keys to your assets.

Cold wallet storage: Unlike hot wallets, cold wallets (also known as hardware wallets) rely on offline electronic devices to securely store your private keys.

What can you Buy with Cryptocurrency?

So, what can you actually buy with cryptocurrency? Well, it turns out that you can actually buy a lot! There are some big tech companies that accept crypto on their websites. Just to name a few of them, you get AT&T, Microsoft, Shopify, Home Depot, and Rakuten. You can also use it to buy from certain luxury car brands and many subscription based web sites accept it as payment. In short, you can use a digital, non-centralized currency to buy tangible assets in the real world and that goes a long way towards legitimizing it!

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a cutting-edge language model developed by OpenAI. It is a deep learning-based conversational AI system that has been trained on a massive amount of text data to generate human-like responses to user inputs. The model is based on the Transformer architecture, which was introduced in the paper “Attention is All You Need” and has since become the foundation for many state-of-the-art language models.

ChatGPT uses the Transformer architecture to process input text and generate a response in real-time. The model has been trained on a diverse range of text data, including conversations, news articles, and web pages, which allows it to generate responses on a wide range of topics. When a user inputs a query, ChatGPT processes the input and generates a response by predicting the next word in the sequence. The response is generated by sampling the most likely words, given the input, from the model’s predicted probabilities of each word.

One of the key advantages of ChatGPT is its ability to generate coherent and contextually relevant responses. The model has learned to consider the context of a conversation and generate responses that are consistent with the tone and content of the conversation. This allows ChatGPT to engage in natural and engaging conversations with users.

ChatGPT has been widely adopted by businesses, developers, and researchers in various industries, including customer service, content creation, and research. The model’s ability to generate human-like responses has made it a valuable tool for automating customer service and reducing response times. In content creation, ChatGPT has been used to generate articles, summaries, and other written content, reducing the time and effort required to produce high-quality content. In research, ChatGPT has been used to study language and generate insights into the way people communicate.

In conclusion, ChatGPT is a highly advanced language model that is changing the way people think about conversational AI. Its ability to generate human-like responses in real-time has made it a valuable tool for businesses, developers, and researchers across a wide range of industries. As the model continues to evolve and improve, it will likely have an even greater impact on the way we communicate and interact with technology in the future.

ChatGPT in School

So, there you have it! That’s everything you need to know about ChatGPT in school and how it operates. By the way what did you think about the writing style up there? Was it fun and engaging? Did it make you want to keep reading? Did it have that good, old fashioned, sense of a human touch? Have you even made it this far in the article?

Well, if it isn’t obvious, that whole first part was writing by the titular ChatGPT. This thing has been in the news quite a bit and it seems to be a thorn in the side of educational institutes all around the world. It seems that students simply have to type a subject into this AI and it will just spit out a paper for them. That sounds like the end of humanity to me!

Any AI takes Skill

It’s not quite that cut and dry. Is you know anything about AI then you know that operating it requires some skill. That’s why art created by AI is its own category right now. That section up there didn’t just create itself for me. Here’s the very first result of my foray into ChatGPT:

If you know anything about school, then you know that those two examples are nowhere near the length that would be required of a typical paper. You can also see that it’s all written in a stunted sort of language that would make it stand out in a class of men and women with any semblance of personality. In order to get closer to the length required by any writing assignment, I had to go out of my way and give the AI instructions to create the answer in 500 words.

That may sound like one very simple extra step, but it didn’t quite give me what I wanted. Instead, that text is only 366 words. It seems that ChatGPT in school is just as much of a slacker as the students that try to use it.

What’s the Point?

Okay, so what’s the point we’re trying to make here? It’s the simple fact that the media has just done what it always does. It’s taken a fairly mundane story about something that has little to no bearing on your life and turned it into the next apocalypse. The very educational system that the world relies on to create the next generation of its stewards is falling apart because a child simply has to use a magical computer thingy to do all of his or her work for them.

It actually turns out that using ChatGPT in school to cheat is much harder than you think it is. Every higher learning institute is going to use some form of plagiarism check to make sure its students are doing the work they’re supposed to be doing and not just copy/pasting from Wikipedia. Let’s take that first section, that was writing by the AI and run it through a simple Copyscape check and see what happens:

Yup, that’s right! Fully 7 plagiarism hits in that short 366 word piece! Any teacher or professor is going to be able to get those same results on any paper that’s been written by ChatGPT.

ChatGPT as a Tool

So what does all this come down to? It pretty much means that ChatGPT is little more than a simple tool that people can use on the internet. Can a student use it to write an entire term paper for them, well, yes. But it’s still going to be just as much work for them to edit and rewrite the entire piece to turn it into something that’s actually usable. It’s about as menacing to the world of education as Google. If you have a student that’s capable of using the internet, then you have a student that has the same advantage as one using ChatGPT. It’s nothing to panic over. It’s not just an “easy” button that someone can press to do all their homework so they can spend the rest of the night doing drugs and having unprotected sex. It’s not the end of the world.

That doesn’t mean that the AI program isn’t an exciting piece of technology, though! This is a machine that’s capable of learning from the interactions of the people that use it. There’s no small amount of genius that’s gone into its design and it may, someday, help people with medical problems have human conversations with other people.

The Future of ChatGPT

If you want to get a good look at a future that includes ChatGPT, it’s not hard. AI has been growing increasingly integrated into our world for the better part of a decade. Just because it’s a new technology doesn’t mean that it’s coming to take your job. Just consider a world where the steam engine was never invented because it took away the work of horses. That would be an incredibly stunted society, to say the least.

Instead, the steam engine took over the world, but horses weren’t wiped off the planet. Their roles in everyday life simply shifted and that’s what’s going to happen with AI. Our roles in the workforce will simply be shifted a little bit. We’re not all going to be put out of work because a program can do something for us. If you want a picture of the future of ChatGPT, all you have to do is ask it:

“ChatGPT and other AI technologies can automate certain tasks and make processes more efficient, but they are not designed to replace human workers. Instead, they complement human workers and allow them to focus on higher-level tasks that require human skills, such as creativity, empathy, and critical thinking. However, it is important for workers to continuously develop new skills to remain relevant in an ever-evolving technological landscape. Overall, the impact of AI on the job market will depend on how it’s adopted and used in various industries and how workers adapt to the changes it brings.”

That doesn’t seem all that bad when you think about it. So, the next time the media gets the public into a frenzy about something, just remember: they’re just trying to sell you something that was made in a factory by robots!

VR Motion Sickness

There’s one thing that many different people experience when they use VR and it’s not fun. VR motion sickness is a real affliction that can strike anyone using a VR headset. When you’re engaged in a VR Relationship, this can be a real problem. HealthLine has a lot to say about what causes it and what you can do about it.

Causes of VR Motion Sickness

Here are the main causes of virtual reality motion reality sickness, so you can understand what’s causing it. When you’re playing a VR game, your eyes register the movements being simulated around you. These can be anything from comets whizzing by in virtual space to riding on a giant horse. Your inner ears also sense that virtual movement is happening all around you.

But despite what’s being generated in your VR headset, the muscles and joints of your body sense that you’re sitting still, and not in motion. Your eyes, inner ears, and body send these mixed messages to your brain simultaneously. Your brain becomes confused and disoriented, causing motion sickness to occur. That’s why so many people can experience it while they’re in the virtual universe and there are a few things you can do about it.

Stop VR Motion Sickness

The first thing to do is take off your headset. Virtual reality motion sickness can last for hours, but here are a few things that will help it go away:

  • Drowsy-formula antihistamines: First-generation antihistamines that cross the blood-brain barrier can be used to treat motion sickness. These antihistamines have anticholinergic properties. Anticholinergic medications reduce symptoms like vomiting and nausea. Medications to try include Benadryl and Dramamine. Second-generation antihistamines don’t have this effect.
  • Fresh air: It’s not fully understood why breathing in fresh, cool air alleviates motion sickness, but people often report feeling better once they do. If you’re inside, go outside and breathe some cool air. If you’re indoors, generate a breeze with a cooling fan.
  • Aromatherapy: Essential oils, like lavender and ginger, may help reduce nausea and dizziness. Try using a room diffuser or place a few drops on your wrists and gently breath in the scent.
  • Ginger: Ginger can help reduce nausea and may also have a calming effect. Try taking ginger supplements, chewing ginger candy, or drinking ginger tea. You can also peel and suck on fresh ginger root.

Prevent Virtual Reality Motion Sickness

If you want to take steps to prevent the motion sickness then you’re in luck. There are a few things you can do to stop from feeling sick in the first place. Here are the things you can do:

  • VR treadmills: VR treadmills are actually a type of shoe that lets you simulate walking while you’re actually standing still during a game.
  • Cybershoes: These work similarly to VR treadmills, except you wear them while sitting.
  • Low-latency VR games: Latency refers to the amount of time it takes for in-app motion to register in the brain. The lower the latency, the less delay there is between what’s happening and your brain’s perception of it.
  • Scopolamine patch: Scopolamine is a prescription anticholinergic drug that’s administered via a patch worn behind the ear. It’s used to alleviate nausea and vomiting caused by surgical procedures. It’s also sometimes prescribed for people to use before boat trips. A patch can be worn for up to 3 days.
  • Have an empty stomach: Avoid eating a heavy meal before playing. This may reduce nausea and vomiting.
  • Try medication: Take Dramamine or Benadryl several hours prior to playing.

Mental Healthcare and VR

There’s a big problem that not many people may know about right now. That’s the fact that there’s a real shortage of mental healthcare professionals in the world. This shortage just so happens to be coming at the same exact time as the need for such professionals is growing. That means that things aren’t looking great for mental health, but there are people doing things to solve the problem. The lack of professionals is being shored up by virtual appointments that let many more people seek out the care they need. Healthcare IT News recently releases an article on the new way of seeing mental healthcare patients and this is what they have to say about it.

Telehealth makes a difference

Speaking to Risa Weisberg, the Chief Clinical Officer at BehaVR had this to say about telehealth: “Telehealth can remove potential access barriers for patients such as geographic location or transportation to an appointment. As such, telehealth can often make it easier to find a therapist, as any therapist licensed in the state in which the patient lives may now be a potential fit. Further, it can increase access for patients with busy schedules, who may have time for a 50-minute appointment, but not for travel to and from a therapist’s office, and for patients with mobility difficulties.”

VR tech and healthcare

Going beyond simple telehealth over the phone, VR tech is being used to carry out appointments with doctors and other providers. Virtual reality replaces your sensory input, creating an immersive experience that the brain processes more like a completely new reality. It’s as if whatever you’re seeing and hearing is actually happening to you. This level of engagement means that the experiences in VR are processed by your brain in much the same way that actual experiences are.

VR can be an alternative to drugs

First, it’s important to note that virtual reality will never completely replace drugs or in-person therapy. There are usually cases that may require pharmacological interventions and/or traditional in-office psychotherapy. However, for some individuals and some behavioral health indications, VR interventions may prove to be equally robust treatment options. One such area is that of pain care. VR interventions can be effective in addressing and reducing pain, both as a stand-alone solution and as a supplement to physical therapy and other methods for treating pain.

It’s one solution to a big problem

Using VR for mental healthcare treatment is a very positive solution to the problem of fewer providers being around, but it’s only one solution. Completely fixing the problem will require a lot more engagement and an influx of mental health doctors to fill in the gaps. Until that happens, VR will be right here to give you access to the healthcare that you need. If you feel that meeting in person is impossible, then seeking out a digital appointment may be exactly what you need. It’s the best solution that we have and it’s helping many people across the planet.

Best WiFi Routers for VR

There are lot of requirements when you want to hook your VR headset up to WiFi. There are also a lot of routers and modems that claim to be the very best for them. If they weren’t so expensive, it wouldn’t be a big deal to try them out and see which one is the best. As it stands, the best option is to read as much about them as you can before you make your decision. Once you know the one you want, you’ll be able to stream as much VR content as you want. Here are the best WiFi routers for VR.

TP-Link Archer AXE300

The TP-Link Archer AXE300 is a quad-band router with great support and port flexibility. It’s the second Quad-band router with three Multi-Gig ports — two 10GbE and one 2.5GbE. You can use any as the WAN port, and uniquely one of the 10GbE ports is an RJ45/SFP+ combo port. On the Wi-Fi front, you can dedicate either of its 5GHz band or the 6GHz band (when applicable) to VR usage. That, plus a robust web user interface and excellent performance, mean it’ll simultaneously deliver all bandwidth you’d need for any VR applications and other networking tasks.

Asus GT-AXE 16000

The Asus GT-AXE 16000 is a great gaming router for you to consider. It’s another quad-band router and it’s one of the best that you can find on the market. It can host a multi-gig mesh system that’s going to give you WiFi all over your home, no matter how big or small it happens to be. It has a lot of features that you can take advantage of to make sure that the devices you’re using are getting the most data. That’s going to let you easily send your VR headset everything it needs.

Synology RT6600ax

The Synology RT6600ax is very customizable so you can turn it into anything you need. It has lots to offer and is one of the best Wi-Fi 6 routers you can find on the market. It doesn’t have a 6GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E) but is the first that supports the 5.9GHz portion of the 5GHz spectrum, making it somewhat future-proof. The router performs well in any testing that reviewers have put it up against. It always succeeds and has plenty of VR bandwidth when you dedicate one of its 5GHz bands for the task.

TP-Link Archer GX90

The TP-Link Archer GX90 is a single 2.5 Gbps, multi-gig LAN/WAN port. It’s the newest gaming router from the company and is meant to replace the Archer AX11000. It has a more stable and robust firmware package and it actually costs less than its predecessors. It’s fast as well as reliable and has a full web user interface. That’s going to let you customize it however you want and make sure that your data is getting where you want it to go. It’s more than worth a look when you’re trying to find a new router.

Ubiquiti AmpliFi Alien

The Ubiquiti AmpliFi Alien is a tri-band mesh router that also uses WiFi 6. The design makes it somewhat of a router for VR since it’s a bit out of this world. It’s not a gaming router, so it’s best for those using virtual desktop apps. It has a sleek design, sufficient web interface, and well-designed mobile app. As well as a convenient and free Teleport VPN. One of the best features is that it comes with a built-in ad blocking feature that’s going to save you from a lot of spam and wasted bandwidth.

Netgear Nighthawk

The Netgear Nightwawk is a 12 stream WiFi 6E router with tri-band wireless speeds up to 10.8Gbps. It’s a real powerhouse with coverage up to 3,500 sq. ft. and 60 devices. It sets up in minutes with the Nighthawk app – easily manage WiFi settings at the device and network level, test internet speed and monitor data usage. It also protects your family’s WiFi with an automatic shield of security across all your connected devices with a 30-day free trial. No matter which router you go with, this is going to be one of the final contenders and there’s just no way around that.

The best router that you can get is going to greatly enhance any VR headset that you have. It’s one of the most important pieces of equipment that you can have in your house. Get a great router and you’re going to have a great VR set up.
